After graduated from the University of Malaya, Dr. Lee Chee Kean started his medical profession as a houseman at Sungai Petani Hospital (currently known as Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim). He was later recruited as a medical officer under the Department of Surgery followed by the Department Orthopaedic Surgery of the same hospital from 2005 till 2008.

He returned to University of Malaya to specialise in Orthopaedic Surgery (Master in Orthopaedic Surgery, MS Orth). In view of his excellent performance and leadership, he was elected as the Chief Registrar during the final year of his training. He completed his specialty training successfully and won 2 awards with his thesis, namely the 2010 Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association (APOA) Young Ambassador Award and the 2013 Subir Sengupta Best Published Clinical Paper Award.

During his orthopaedic training, Dr. Lee Chee Kean has already shown strong interest in Spine Surgery. He was fortunate to have the opportunity to observe numerous advanced spine surgeries during a short attachment at Duchess of Kent Children’s Hospital and Queen Mary Hospital with Hong Kong University in 2011. In 2012, he joined University of Malaya as a clinical specialist and lecturer and continued to subspecialise in the field of Spine Surgery. Under the guidance of Professor Dr. Kwan Mun Keong, he completed his fellowship training in the University of Malaya in 2015. He further subspecialised in Cervical Spine Surgery by completing the clinical and research fellowship training in Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, Korea with the supervision of Professor Dr. Yeom Jin Sup in 2016.

After returning from Korea, Dr. Lee served as a Consultant Spine Surgeon in both University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and Specialist Centre (UMSC). He has vast experience in various spinal disorders such as degenerative disc disease, spine deformity such as scoliosis, spine trauma and fractures, spine metastases and tumours, spine infections and osteoporotic spine fractures.

In April 2017, Dr. Lee joined Mahkota Medical Centre as Consultant Orthopaedic, Trauma and Spine Surgeon.

 

李志坚医生于 2004 年毕业于马来亚大学后,在双溪大年医院(现称Sultan Abdul Halim医院)开始了他的职业生涯。经过一年的临床实习,他先后被聘为外科部(General Surgery)和骨科外科部(Orthopaedic Surgery)医生。 2008年,李志坚医生重新回到马来亚大学继续深造,主攻骨科外科(骨科外科硕士,MS Orth)。鉴于他出色的表现和领导能力,促使他在培训期中被当选为首席硕士生。2012年,他成功完成专业培训。他的毕业临床论文也为他获得了多项奖项,其中包括 2010年度亚太骨科协会(APOA)青年大使奖,和 2013年 Subir Sengupta 最佳临床论文奖。 在骨科培训期间,李志坚医生对脊柱外科渐生浓厚兴趣并对该领域给予高度关注,2011年,李医生有幸远赴香港大学的根德公爵夫人儿童医院(Duchess of Kent Children’s Hospital)和玛丽医院(Queen Mary Hospital)即场观摩多项顶尖先进的脊柱手术。2012年,他加盟马来亚大学成为临床骨科外科医生和学术讲师,并继续攻读专修脊柱外科,并在关文强教授的栽培指导下,他于 2015 年完成马来亚大学脊柱外科培训。2016年,他远征韩国首尔国立大学医院进一步完成颈椎外科(cervical spine surgery)临床和研究培训,然后在从韩国回流马来西亚以后,在马来亚大学医学中心(UMMC)和专科中心(UMSC)正式担任脊柱外科顾问医生。李志坚医生在各类脊柱疾病累积了非常丰富的临床经验,如退行性椎间盘疾病、脊柱畸形、脊柱侧凸、脊柱创伤和骨折、脊柱肿瘤、脊柱感染和脊柱骨质疏松症等等。

2017年4月,李志坚医生加入马六甲仁爱医院,担任骨科、创伤和脊柱外科顾问医生。
